Fishing 24-7 Guide Service

Smith Lake May 22nd, 2013 It's been a busy couple of weeks on the water. Sorry for the lack of reports, not much free time during this time of year. As for the fishing it's heating back up after fighting through the post spawn part. We're still catching fish many different ways. Everything from planer boards, down lines, umbrella rigs, and topwater. I'm running night trips again as the fishing is pretty good on your average night. I will be running a special for people looking to beat the heat and catch some good ones. Starting May 29th I'll be offering a early morning trip with both night and daytime fish. We will start at 3 am and end at 9 am. Last year these trip provided some if the biggest fish we boated all year. Also for Father's Day I'm offering a 8 hour trip for the 6 hour trip rate of $325. Gift certificates are good for one year from date of purchase. Rates good for 3 people, add a 4th person for $25 extra. Smith Lake Striper Club added its 20th member last week. Only 5 spots left open, below is a couple reports of a club member who didn't know how to fish for stripers. But is now catching fish on a regular bases. This club offers the weekend angler a weekly report with maps of where, when, and how we are catching fishing. Add in the discussion board were members can ask any questions they have about stripe fishing. This is the only fishing club were a guide provides in depth reports and tells you were to catch them. Below are some of the club members friends and family with fish caught over the past weeks

ABOUT THIS LAKE

With five past world record spotted bass catches, you can see why the lure of big spots brings anglers from all over the country to Lewis Smith Lake. Plus, the Gulf Coast strain of striped bass here often weighs in at more than 20 pounds. In fact, a monster 32 lb.-8 oz. striped bass caught on the lake is an Alabama record and many anglers feel there are 40- to 50-pound stripes just waiting to strike.

Lewis Smith Lake – usually called Smith Lake – is located in Cullman, Walker, and Winston Counties about an hour north of Birmingham or south of Huntsville on I-65. It is a beautiful, deep, clear lake with dozens of feeder streams, winding bays, and sloughs. Steep bluffs cradle much of the lake, with water depths dropping as deep as 60 or 70 feet just a few yards offshore. Hundreds of coves along the 500 miles of shoreline on this 21,000-acre lake provide anglers ample points to search for spotted bass.
