October 12, 2018 – Decatur, Ala. – when the sounds of outboard engines fill the air at Gadsden’s Coosa Landing on October 26, and the competitors of the 2018 Alabama Bass Trail Championship await their boat number to be called, it will be a significant moment for the whole of the Greater Gadsden Area.

For the past several years, Gadsden has been working to create a revitalized area surrounding the river in downtown; largely built around the Coosa Landing area and the new Riverfront Parkway, the intent of which, is bringing more use, and tourism to the area.  The hosting of the ABT Championship is an important milestone in that development.

With the Riverwalk Area complete, and the new 55,000 square foot The Venue, meeting and event facility connected to Coosa Landing, and plans to bring anchor businesses such as Buffalo Wild Wings and others to the riverfront area, Gadsden is bursting with pride.

Hugh Stump, Director of Greater Gadsden Area Tourism, said that the next week is a great shot in the arm for the area.  “We know how important fishing is to our community, and the Alabama Bass Trail Championship is one of those events that demonstrates our commitment to the sport’s impact in our community,” said Stump.  “We have been a partner to ABT’s charter since the beginning, and to welcome them here for this 2018 Championship is an honor, and a boost to our community.”

Stump said that the newly completed, The Venue will host the pre-event dinner and registration meeting the night before the event.  “The city of Gadsden sees the importance of the Coosa River and Neely Henry Lake, and building The Venue helps highlight that commitment,” he said.  “The ABT banquet and registration meeting will be one of the first major events that will be hosted there, and we are excited for everyone to see the facility and share in our vision.

“We love what Alabama Bass Trail stands for, and appreciate what it has done for our community as well as our whole state,” he said.  “The Championship will be a great showpiece for them, and we are happy to be a part of it.”

The Alabama Bass Trail Championship will be held October 26 and 27 in Downtown Gadsden.  The pre-event Meeting and Banquet will be held at The Venue at Coosa Landing located at 201 George Wallace Drive in
