It couldn’t have come at a better time.
Iowans Paul Malone and Steve Mui won the two-day U.S. Anglers Choice Region No. 3 Team Championship that was headquartered out of Goose Pond Colony with a total weight of 58.6 pounds on Friday. That came one-day after Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley visited Lake Guntersville State Park to introduce the launch of the Alabama Bass Trail.
Consisting of the state’s top 11 bass-fishing lakes, the Trail is designed to lure tourists to the state to fish. It is a cooperative effort between the governor’s office, the Alabama Tourism Department, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association.
