This report is for the winter and the last week. Most the winter saw tough times on Guntersville. I believe a lot had to do with the amount of grass in the lake. The fish were there but its hard to get a bait to them when your lure hits and is fouled in grass. So I spent a lot of time on Smith lake and had a blast catching spots waiting for Guntersville to get back to where its supposed to be this time of year. the last week I got to spend 3 days on the water and I think the lake is where it should be. There is still areas of thick grass that seem unfishable but most the lake is right with a lot of the grass dying out. I even found some really pretty milfoil about 6 inches long so that’s a good sign. The water has a stain in it throughout most of the lake but some areas are still clear. A couple days we caught 10-12 with one day boating over 30 and the quality was great. We caught most are fish shallow in 1-4ft around grass and stumps but did catch some out on deeper grasslines in 6-10ft. best baits seemed to be the Jackall TN70 which is a great lipless bait and a Squad Minnow 115sp jerkbait. It’s looking like we should have another great late winter/early spring. I’m getting booked for the spring months. I have Feb. 2nd,9th,10th,11th,13th,17th,19th-22nd. March 9th-11th and 30th. In April I have the 1st-5th,7th,8th,10th-14th.
