Been spending most of my time lately crappie fishing. Big Bite Baits grubs in Tennessee shad on 1/16th ounce jigheads worked around laydowns and boathouse in 8-12ft of water have been good. The bridges are still holding some crappie too. The bass bite is beginning to pick up. Clients and I have had good success on rattlebaits and jerkbaits around scattered grass in 4-6ft. This year scattered grass is harder to find because the grass hasn’t really left yet. What I mean is lots of tall stalks still hanging around which makes it hard for an exposed hook type bait to come across the grass with ease. Lack of strong winds and heavy current so far would be the main reason the grass is still pretty abundant in most areas. Water temps are 45-47 degrees with clarity being clear in most areas with moderate current.
