Wheeler Lake Fall Fishing
I just want to give a big shout out to Jimmy Mason, Lawlers BBQ, Cabelas, I fished with a Hero, and Chris Lane for putting on a great Wounded Warriors fishing event this past weekend. I was blessed to fish with a Marine from South Carolina. He was motivated and wanted to try and win so we went after big fish! We ended up only having around 2 hours to fish once we got to our area. We caught 12.8 lbs pretty quick and had to get out of there and head back towards the ramp. It was good enough for second place! This was his first time bass fishing. He has always just fished inshore for redfish. It meant the world to him and I got an amazing email from him thanking us for a great time. We caught our fish on a True Bass with a underspin and a spinnerbait.

This report is for Wheeler Lake over the past week. The topwater bite has been amazing. This should get better through Thanksgiving. Throwing a chug bug and spook have been the deal.

When the fish are not getting the topwater we have been throwing True Bass Swimbaits with and underspin on wheeler. They have been CRUSHING it. Any of the colors will work. I have been throwing Turbo in the 4.5 little head.

The bass are really getting into solid fall patterns. The fishing can be slow at times, but when you hit a pile of fish you can load the boat. Wheeler will be getting some great attention next year. I expect bigger bags will be caught than people would have guessed. The lake is pumping out some quality fish. Its not JUST a “Shaky Head” lake anymore 🙂

Lets go fishing! I have days available starting the 17th of November.
